Transaction Lists

The various transaction lists have some things in common.  All information in these tables is entered and changed the same way (See Standard Key and Mouse Operations) except for the tires.

When entering a date in any of the tables, you may enter the date directly as mmddyy or use the keyboard shortcuts to increment or decrement the date.  You may also click on the calendar look up button to the right of the date to pop up a calendar to select the date.

After entering new information in the fuel table, the miles per gallon will be recomputed for all fuel entries in the table.  Also, the highest odometer reading in the table is put in the vehicle current odometer field.  Don't worry if you're missing an odometer reading for a fuel fill, as long as the gallons are correct and the original odometer reading is known for the vehicle, the overall MPG will be computed using the latest fuel transaction.

If you are entering a partial fuel fill, after entering the information, right mouse click on the entry and select the "Partial Fill" menu item.  This will prevent calculating a MPG value for this entry and will add the gallons and miles to the next full fill and calculate the MPG on the totals.  Partial fills gallons will be shown in orange.

To track non-driving fuel use (such as generators, heaters, etc. that use fuel from the engine tank) enter the gallons used as a negative number.  These gallons will not be used calculating the MPG for the vehicle and will show in a separate total on the window and in the vehicle report.  Enter a date and odometer value that will place the non-driving fuel entry in the proper sequence so the MPG calculations will apply it to the correct fill entry.  Non-driving gallons will be shown in green.

When entering the vendor, you can type a vendor name and it will be saved with the transaction just as you type it.  If you want to use a standard vendor, click on the lookup button at the right of the vendor name to pick a name from the table.

To enter information into the Notes at the bottom of the screen, click with the mouse in the notes box and type whatever you would like.  The note can be up to 2000 characters long.  When done, press Tab and the note will be saved with the highlighted transaction.

Each list can be sorted by any of the columns by clicking on the column header.  Clicking a second time on the same header will change the sort order of the transactions on that column.

Tire information is entered on a form accessed using the Add or Change buttons, the right mouse button pop up menu, or the keyboard.  You can use standard vendors here just as with the other transactions.
